Botox

Botox can be used not only as a cosmetic procedure but also to help with TMJ pain and chronic migraines.

Botox Injections

At Lee Family Dentistry in Kitsilano, we offer Botox for both aesthetic and medical purposes.

Please feel free to ask Dr. Janson Lee or Dr. Anika Lee about their competitive pricing for botox in Vancouver and how they can help you achieve your goals!

BOTOX® is a natural neuromodulator approved by Health Canada to temporarily relax muscles by blocking nerve impulses. As the treated muscles relax, dynamic wrinkles and the lines they create fade.

Botox is safe, painless, and the procedure is very quick, usually about 10 minutes. Ask one of our lovely staff who have tried it! Botox typically causes minimal discomfort because the needles are very, very small. There is no recovery period necessary. Botox lasts between three and six months, with an average of about four months. As you continue to have Botox, the effects will last longer.

Botox Uses and Benefits

Botox is one of the most popular non-surgical aesthetic treatments.

It can be used to smooth skin and has anti-aging effects. It has a 30-year safety record. Confidence and self-image are well known to have a ripple effect on overall health. We have seen this first hand in our practice and this benefit is often under-appreciated. Regularly scheduled injections can prevent wrinkles and keep the skin smooth as we age.

While Botox is usually associated with its cosmetic purpose, there are also many medical uses. Some of the most common uses of Botox can include treatment for migraines, and pain associated with TMJ disorders such as clenching.

Some common uses for Botox:
  • Reduce muscle pain caused by clenching

  • Reduction of headaches

  • Preventing wrinkles

  • Smoothing fine lines

  • Lifting the eyebrow

  • Improving a gummy smile

Rare Side Effects of Botox

Because Botox is administered in a very low dose, adverse effects are not common and are often mild. The side effects can include possible bruising, mild tenderness at the injection site, and possible temporary muscle asymmetry that can typically be corrected.

Should I Do Botox?

Botox is a great preventative measure to fine lines and wrinkles. The ideal age to start Botox is in the mid to late twenties; however, it is never too late to start! Botox is safe for most people. However, you should avoid Botox if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
